One of best lessons I have learned from the ladies I photograph is to dress for myself, rather than trying to impress others. There is a freedom that accompanies not having to worry about impressing other people. Here’s a style tip from a young man with an old soul, Dress to Impress Yourself! I hope you enjoy Marilyn Sokol’s inspired words. She is a wonderful lady with a great spirit.

Advanced Style Around The World
The other day Advanced Style was featured in one of Vienna’s largest newspapers derStandard. My photos, including a great cover shot of the Idiosyncratic Fashionistas are displayed throughout the issue . Jean, Valerie, Lina and I got together for brunch to catch up and look at their wonderful faces on the newspaper cover. Its great to see older ladies with great style getting the attention they deserve.
On another note Valerie broke her right wrist, but she doesn’t let that stop her from looking as stylish as always. In the video below she shows how you can even add some style to your cast, proving that style really can be healing. If you are in need of a stylish cane and other helpful products check out this great company OMHU .
Old Hollywood
I met this stunning woman at a sample sale party for milliner Ellen Christine. She looks as if she could have stepped right out of one of the Old Hollywood movies I used to watch with my grandmother. She is elegant and charming and I hope to photograph her again. By the way Linda’s beautiful suit was made by Andrea Fisher, whose designs are featured at Lark Boutique in Lacrosse, WI.
The Art Of Style
The other day Tziporah Salamon and I had a great time dressing up and taking photos for a special photo shoot. One of New York’s best dressed ladies, Tziporah creates visual masterpieces with each outfit she puts together. She told me that the work of Matisse really perfected her eye. Do you guys feel that style is a form of art?
I hope you enjoy the small video and photos I put together and check out Tziporah’s site for more visual inspiration.
Iris Apfel: “Price Has Nothing To Do With Style”
I finally had the chance to meet the extraordinary Iris Apfel. Her approach to style is legendary in her incorporation of high and low, ethnic and vintage with contemporary trends, and idiosyncratic brand of humor. She is a true style icon who continues to inspire others to express themselves and enjoy life to the fullest. Iris told me that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to be stylish, it is all in how you put things together. She is proof that putting an outfit together can be just as artful as painting a portrait. I hope you enjoy these two small clips and hopefully we will see more of Iris on Advanced Style.
